On April 16th, 2025 Cathy Mantua (65) of Chester, MD passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of forty years Mike Mantua, her children Mark and Scott Mantua, her sisters Robin Crafton (Art) and RaeAnn Bentz. Cathy lived a life devoted to Christ and shared her faith with those who were blessed to know her.
Cathy was born to the late Beverly Green and Manrid Ivan Lumpkin of Silver Spring, Md where she graduated from Springbrook HS in 1978. In 1982 she graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Maryland with a degree in finance. After college she started her career as a computer programmer. In 1985 she married her HS sweetheart and settled in Clarksville Md for the next 34 years. Cathy devoted her life to her children as a full-time mother where her greatest joy came from spending time with family and fostering a loving environment. Cathy had many talents: cooking, crafting, sewing, crocheting and tutoring math. In her spare time, she enjoyed making cherished memories at the family vacation home at Deep Creek Lake. In her later years, she moved to Kent Island on the water, where she enjoyed boating, kayaking and spending time with Mike enjoying the view.
Cathy's love for the Lord was her passion. She found strength in scripture and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith with family and friends in both actions and words. Cathy was active in Bible Study Fellowship where she served as a women's group leader for many years. Cathy now rests in the arms of the Savior free from cancer, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord Almighty.
